Determine which sign you are going to deploy or move its location.
If it is a sign that is currently not in use or located in the yard, send the message you want displayed to confirm that the communications is working. After sending a message to the sign, it is a good habit that while you are on the web interface to change the signs location information to the intended location. Once you have confirmed that you have communication and control to the sign, and performed the necessary checklist for sign transportation, the sign is ready to be transported and placed at the intended location.
If you are moving a sign from one location alongside the road to another location it is best to either have a web enabled phone or have someone on stand-by to send a message to the sign via the web page. When arriving to a sign on the road side stop in advance of the sign in view of the display while remaining in the vehicle. Send a blank message or a test message via phone or web interface to confirm communications. Once control and communications are confirmed continue with checklist for sign transportation and deployment.
Now you are at the signs new location. Verify a green flashing status light on the cellular data modem to confirm communications coverage. If you do not see any lights on the modem power cycle the Jam Logic equipment control unit and watch for status lights on the modem.
| Status Light | |
|---|---|
| Green blinking light | OK |
| Red solid light | No Communication |
| Red Blinking Light | Registering with the network |
| No Light | No Power |
Allow for a couple of minutes for the modem to register before determining no communication at that site. Once you have a green blinking light send the sign the message you want displayed to confirm communication and control. After verification of the communication change the location information on the web interface.
When placing a sign along the roadway keep in mind the cellular communications. Placing a sign in the bottom of a ravine or under or next to structures may interfere with the communications.
